Walser Subaru has been waiting patiently for the 2013 Subaru BRZ ever since the joint venture with Toyota was first announced. The all-new performance coupe is everything that we love about Subaru, from safety and style, and it even manages to add a fresh dash of rear-wheel into the mix. In other words, it's easy to see why we've been following this vehicle's development for so long. But exactly when can we expect to see it on our lot? Quite soon, actually.

The first 2013 Subaru BRZ recently rolled off the line at the Gunma Main Plant, in Ota-city, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. The plant will produce not only the BRZ, but the Toyota 86 and Scion FR-S as well, all three of which are based on the same platform.

Why is Subaru manufacturing the competition's vehicles? As we said previously, the Subaru BRZ is actually the end result of a joint venture between Subaru and the Cylindrical T, as well as its youth-oriented brand. This deal, which began in 2005, extends far beyond simply the development of a new, rear-wheel drive coupe. It also encompasses its production too. In other words, Subaru parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries is likely receiving some form of compensation for its production efforts.

Subaru has said that it will conduct a limited release of the BRZ to test waters in the U.S. market. It is, after all, a very experimental vehicle for them. That said, they estimate that they'll be sending about 500 units a month to be sold in the first model year. From there, they'll adjust production and shipments accordingly.
