Unlock Your Future Career with Walser Automotive’s Internship Program
In the fall of 2022, we completely reimagined and revitalized our Walser Automotive Group Internship Program with the goal of making a significant impact on the next generation of professionals. Our mission is straightforward yet ambitious: we want to connect with emerging talent in our local communities and provide them with a unique opportunity to explore diverse and rewarding career possibilities within our family-owned and operated company.
Connecting with Local Talent
We understand that building strong ties with local educational institutions and career-readiness platforms is key to identifying and supporting emerging talent. That’s why we’ve partnered with colleges and career education providers to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world career experiences. At Walser, we believe in showcasing the exciting possibilities our industry offers, from a wide range of career paths to endless opportunities for personal and professional growth.
What Our Internship Program Offers
Our Internship Program is tailor-made for students at local colleges and career education platforms who work closely with our Talent Acquisition Department. We’ve been actively engaged in career fairs, nurturing relationships with Career Services, collaborating with Faculty Members, and reaching out to students eager to explore the myriad of career options available at Walser. Our approach is multifaceted, offering students a chance to experience internships, attend career fairs, engage in classroom presentations, take dealership tours, participate in mock interviews, receive curriculum support, and much more.
Discover the Unexpected at Walser
One of the unique aspects of Walser Automotive is the surprising diversity of career pathways we offer. Our goal is not only to cultivate early talent pipelines but also to be a valuable community partner that shares the same values and aspirations. Our internship opportunities are carefully curated to align with both business needs and department leadership. We believe that an internship should be a rewarding experience for both the employer and the student, setting the stage for a promising future.
Year-Round Internship Flexibility
While our internships traditionally took place during the summer, we’ve expanded our offerings to include 90-day internships throughout the year, including the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. This flexibility accommodates the schedules of our student interns and aligns seamlessly with our business needs.
Our Internship Journey So Far
Since the relaunch of our Internship Program in Fall 2022, we’ve welcomed ten talented students into our internship fold. Five of these exceptional individuals are currently working with us, while the others have transitioned into seasonal roles for the 2023-2024 school year. Although none of our interns have become full-time employees just yet, our aspiration is to extend second-year internships or full-time job opportunities to these promising students upon their graduation.
Internships Across Departments
Our internships span various departments, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of our business. These departments include Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, Business Development Center, Information Technology & Security, and the Reconditioning Center Photography Department. Departments Supported by Our Interns and Their Backgrounds
During the summer of 2023, our internship program extended its support to various corporate departments within our organization. Here’s a glimpse of the departments that benefited from our interns’ contributions and the diverse backgrounds of these aspiring professionals:
Information Technology (IT) Department:
- We welcomed an intern from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, who dedicated a full calendar year to our team as part of their Corporate Work-Study Program.
Information Security (IS) Department:
- A University of Minnesota student completed a successful 2023 Summer Internship with us and has transitioned to a part-time role in our Information Security department.
Business Development Center:
- The Fall 2023 semester saw the arrival of three talented interns, each representing a different educational institution:
- A Marketing major with a Spanish minor from the University of St. Thomas.
- A Management Information Systems major from Metropolitan State University.
- A Business Analytics major from Hamline University.
These interns brought their unique skills and backgrounds to support our various departments, and their contributions have been invaluable to our organization’s success.
We finished out our internship program with a trip to Pinstripes, where they showed us what their true skill were. Thanks for everything you did this summer. We look forward to watching their continued growth and achievements in the future.
